Swelling cup test method:

1. Application: Swelling speed and height for SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer) or Water Blocking Tapes

2. Material：PMMA

3. Apparatus：Swelling cup, beaker（100ml), Timer, DI water

4. Testing Method：

(1) Cut 3 80 mm diameter circular samples

(2) Place the sample inside the cup, swelling side facing up. Add a non-woven layer to prevent (3) blocking of the holes inside the ram.

(4) Pour distilled water into the cups. Start timer

(5) Note the swelling height after 1,3 and 5 mins

Digimatic indicator test method:

Apparatus: digital bench scale, beaker, graduated cylinder, swelling cup, plunger dial indicator and stopwatch

Test steps:

(1) Prepare 1000ml of distilled water at a temperature of 25℃±2.

(2) Evenly place 0.2g SAP sample on the bottom of the swelling cup, cover with a layer of non-woven fabric. Place the lid on top. The weight of the lid is 92g±2.

(3) Align the spindle of the digital dial indicator with the handle of the swelling cup and reset to 0.

(4) Measure 150ml of deionized water with a graduated cylinder and pour into the expansion test cup.

(5) Read the value of the dial indicator at 1 minute, that is the expansion speed; At 3 minutes, read the value of the dial indicator, which is the expansion height.
